Program Overview
The programme is a 2‑year Master’s (120 ECTS) in Biochemistry and Molecular & Cell Biology, offered on a day schedule at the Louvain‑la‑Neuve campus.
Taught in English (except some social studies courses) with activities open to international / exchange students.
The degree aims to equip students with both advanced theoretical knowledge and experimental/technical skills to study living cells, molecular components, their structure, functioning, biotechnology applications etc.
Two “focuses” (specializations) are offered: Research or Professional (Biotechnology). If choosing the Biotechnology (professional) focus, there is the possibility to take part in an interdisciplinary training in business creation (INEO).

There are three 15‑day periods (three 15‑day lab periods) in specialized laboratories of the Louvain Institute of Biomolecular Science and Technology (LIBST).
If a student's background lacks required prerequisites, there is a preparatory/complementary module (up to 60 ECTS courses), chosen from Bachelor level Biological Sciences, in agreement with the academic advisor.
Admission Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related field (e.g. biological sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry) is required.
For certain students (with different bachelor backgrounds), there may be required additional preparatory courses (complementary module) to fill gaps in foundational knowledge.
Since the programme is in English, no proof of French proficiency is required unless student wants access to the didactic program (teaching focus) or certain French‑taught courses.
The admission process involves evaluation of transcript, previous academic training, possible selection if focus or specialization requires it.
